Description
Blue Arrows Rush is an evergreen perennial grass prized for its thin blue leaves and the soothing color and fine texture it provides in garden beds or containers. The stiff, thin leaves emerge lime green in color turning blue and remaining that color throughout the rest of the year, even during winter. Though this one is often grown as a bog or pond plant it is also drought tolerant in garden beds. Juncus are tough, versatile, and evergreen in most climates, and Blue Arrows won’t disappoint.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing in an upright clump 24 to 36 tall and 12 to 18 inches wide, Blue Arrows Rush is ideal for use as an accent or in groupings or mass plantings in landscape borders, garden beds and home foundation plantings. Excellent for use in pots, planters and other containers which can be placed on the patio or in the margins of the garden pond. A fine addition to ornamental grass gardens, bog gardens, rock gardens, and blue color theme gardens.
Growing Preferences
Blue Arrows Rush is easy to grow in most any wet to dry soil of average fertility in full sun to part shade. Grows well in standing water so is suitable for use in the garden pond with the base of the plant at water level or higher. Maintenance is minimal. If necessary, the foliage can be refreshed annually, before new growth begins to emerge in spring, by cutting back the old stems. After doing so, bright, new greenery will emerge in spring. This duplicates what happens naturally in its northern most range, where the frost kills its greenery back to ground level.

The Blue Arrows arrived well packed and ready to plant. We had a heat wave with temps at or above 100 each afternoon the week after planting but with watering each day they seem to be getting established and growing in an area we had poor drainage and we needed plants that didn’t mind wet feet. We would order from Wilson Bros again!———————————————Thanks so much for the photo! We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come! The grass arrived in a timely manner, carefully packaged and very healthy. I planted it about 2 weeks ago, so I can’t speak too much to the final results, but it’s looking healthy and happy so far! It’s a really beautiful grass. I love the hints of blue within it, and the texture is really nice. It stand outs, while also blending really nicely into a variety of different landscapes. I am very happy with this product. This was my first order from Wilson Brothers, but it will not be my last!—————————————–We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come! Beautiful grass, grows quickly. Is doing extremely well in a low lying area of our yard that tends to flood. Our soil is basically clay with little to no ability to drain.——————————We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! Thanks for the great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
I was thrilled with the customer service through Wilson brothers Gardens. When I 1st went on the site the plants I selected were not in stock but it took my email address to notify me when they were available. When the plants were available I was having problems purchasing them online. The girls at Wilson brothers were kind enough to call me directly and they placed the order for me over the phone. I have very little patience when it comes to computer problems. I am not good at them at all so I was thrilled to have the help. I was also thrilled when I received the plants in the mail. You could tell they had recently been watered and they were boxed up perfectly so they couldn’t get hurt or the dirt fall out .I will definitely order from them again.—————————–Thanks so much for the great review! We are so glad you are pleased! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
