I bought this major wheeler honeysuckle to replace one that constantly got white powdery mildew and all the leaves would fall off. Description said this plant was disease resistant so I gave it a try. It grew very quickly the first year but not many flowers. This is the 3rd year and it was loaded with bloom and have not had one speck of disease ever! The Honeysuckle were well packed upon arrival. They were staked in the pots, and although dry upon arrival, they were in great shape and started to bloom in only a couple of days. Lovely plant with pretty flowers, curling very charmingly yet not “taking over.” Adjusted well to zone 6b, and is climbing up my back gate entrance in full view and sun. I’m hoping to have it cover the top of the gate as well. Good quality, as usual from WB. So pretty, in fact, that I ordered another. I thought it might be a bit late for ordering vines but the two major honeysuckle plants are in the ground and looking fantastic so far and it has been very warm this summer. The plant I received was packed and shipped extremely well. I could tell great care had been taken in packing the plant. It was also very healthy. Another great acquisition from Wilson Brothers. Plants arrived promptly on the leading edge of the promised window and as always were in great shape despite the shipping company’s abuse of the shipping container.. Planted the vines in large pots at the base of my patio pergola and they are already halfway up the legs with the longest runners. Typical of honeysuckle they are already profuse with clusters of really nice trumpet shaped blooms. This honeysuckle variety is not particularly odiferous which is good as some varieties can be overwhelmingly sweet when they get large. I found Wilson Bros Gardens in the Palmetto Electric Cooperative publication “South Carolina Living”., March 2021 issue. Wilson Bros website was easy to navigate and I found the “Major Wheeler” vine I had been looking for locally. It arrived packaged beautifully so there was only one tendril bent. I purchased it in a 2 gallon pot and it was not at all pot bound. The vine is very healthy, climbing well on its trellis and now has many buds. I am very happy with this purchase. I purchased 2 Major Wheeler trumpet vines and they are REALLY NICE. The vines were about 3 feet tall and covered in red tubular blooms. They are planted and seem to be doing well. I think the hummingbirds will love them. I have always loved honeysuckle; it was very common in my hometown. I haven’t seen any since living in Tx for 25 years. I found Wilson Bros. website and saw the Major Wheeler Red Trumpet which I’ve never seen. It was delivered well packed, and in excellent shape. We purchased 2 Major Wheeler, 2 gallon plants. One was a little hardier than the other, as once it was planted in the ground it took off and the other didn’t produce new growth. Then came “The Freeze “ in Houston, both plants survived and are producing new growth and flowers. I can hardly wait to see them cover the trellis, it is going to be beautiful. I bought a new variety to replace the red honeysuckle that I had bought when it was a new variety. Unfortunately, New Mexico can be tough on plants as we get cold winters and hot summers, and dry weather w/ clay soil. Regular honeysuckle thrives, so I am hoping this hardier variety does equally well. I bought 5 2-gallon plants. They are sitting in the garage, waiting for the wind to subside and warmer days. Bought two of the red major wheeler honeysuckles. Received well boxed and in healthy condition. I thought they were small for the price. I also found two large ones from a nursery here. After planting them both the Wilson Bros is doing the best. They are healthy, growing and starting to get a few Honeysuckles in only a few weeks. When I received the honeysuckle bush I was impressed with the packaging, the size of the plant which was in a 2 gallon pot and how vibrant the bush was. I watered it every day until I was able to plant in the ground . The leaves yellowed a little bit I suppose due to the shock as expected but soon it started putting on new vines and beautiful trumpets and growing right up my trellis. I already have a honeysuckle bush and have love how filled out it gets each year with little to no maintenance and the hummingbirds love it. Definitely buy from Wilson Bros Gardens.
