A very handsome, finely-textured conifer with a slim profile, the Snow White Lawson’s Cypress sports dense and attractive grey-green foliage tipped with creamy white, hence the name. Growing in a distinctive teardrop shape and adding maybe 4 to 5 inches in height per year, Snow White might reach 4 feet tall and 2 feet wide at the base in 10 years, making it a fine selection as a specimen or grouping in small garden spaces, rock gardens and containers. Snow White doesn’t like wet feet so make sure the planting bed or container drains well.

Snow White Lawson’s Cypress is easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and full sun to part shade. Whether growing in the ground or in pots, constantly soggy soil or standing water is problematic, so plant in a well-drained site or pot and avoid overwatering. Provide only enough water to keep the soil damp to moist. Established plants are quite drought tolerant and will only require an occasional drink during prolonged periods of drought. Maintenance is minimal. No pruning required except to snip a rare, stray branch tip that is spoiling the shape of the plant.
